Lemonade Made 10 Ways

Freshly made lemonade
When the temperatures climb high here in Gallup, it’s important to keep cool in the heat of the day. You should drink plenty of water, of course, but sometimes it’s nice to beat the heat with something tasty, and a glass of ice-cold lemonade is the perfect summertime beverage. There’s also a wide variety of ways that you can enhance this classic cooldown drink, so try any of these creative lemonade recipes whenever it’s time to chill out.

Lemonade Iced Tea

Have you ever had an Arnold Palmer? Named after a celebrated golfing legend, this beverage is a combination of lemonade and iced tea, and it’s the perfect pick-me-up after a round of golf or any outdoor activity in the summer heat. You’ll need to brew your tea of choice, then stir in sugar and lemonade. Next let it chill in the fridge until it’s ready to serve over ice.

Sparkling Kiwi

Like lemons, kiwis are brightly flavored, tart, and acidic, and they’re a fine addition to your next glass of lemonade. To incorporate them into your drink, chop a couple of kiwis into small pieces, then load them into ice cube trays along with enough water to fill each section, and freeze them. For the rest of your kiwis, cut them into large pieces, puree them, strain the pulp, and stir the mix into a pitcher of lemonade. Chill it in the fridge, and when it’s ready to serve, add the frozen kiwi cubes and top it all off with sparkling water for a refreshing effervescence.

Red, White, & Blue Frozen Lemonade

This frozen drink is the perfect festive dessert for summer get-togethers, and it’s easy to prepare in advance. You’ll need lemons, blueberries, sugar, ice, and maraschino cherries, plus a blender. Juice the lemons until you have a cup of lemon juice, then blend the liquid with ice and sugar until you have a slushy consistency. Put a few berries in each glass, muddle them just enough to let some juice out, then pour the lemonade slushy over them. Garnish each service with the cherries.

Strawberry Watermelon

Lemon juice can be satisfyingly sour, but it’s easy to sweeten up this drink with some fresh fruit. Strawberries and watermelon are naturally sweet and packed with flavor, and you can add them to the drink by blending them into a puree, straining the solids, and pouring the juice into a pitcher along with your lemonade. Stir it all together, add ice, and enjoy.
